In a couple of weeks we are proud to be hosting the YYC Social Enterprise Case Competition + Mini-Case Competition for Kenya Internship. This is allowing post-secondary students in Calgary to learn how to tackle poverty through markets, investing and businesses.
On February 8 and 9 Calgary + Acumen is holding the first social enterprise case competition for students from the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University.
The participants are preparing and counting down the days, and you have the opportunity to be part of this great event as a volunteer! For more information on the competition please visit this page
We are looking for volunteers to help us out on Sunday February 9.
This is a one-day only commitment and we are looking for people for the following roles:
– Competitor team liaisons (you will be dedicated to a pool of competitors and will escort students from the holding room to where they will present to the judges, and be the principal contact for any issues that may come up)
– timekeepers (for the judging panels)
– Set up/lunch prep assistants
The event is from 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday and takes place at Mount Royal University and there are 3 shifts available:
8 am – noon
11 am – 3 pm
2 pm to 6 pm
The roles available will allow you to learn more about impact investing, a proven way of tackling poverty beyond charity and hear the great ideas that the case competition teams will bring forward.
Besides the experience of of being part of a great case competition, you will have the opportunity to meet and network with the students and judges (including some very interesting and influential Calgarians), hear the presentations and enjoy a great lunch.
Please contact Ulrike at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would be available to help out or would like some more information, and please pass this on to anyone else in your contacts who might be interested.
Please let Ulrike know if you are able to help out during one of these shifts.
Thanks Calgary+Acumen Community!
